Clean up weekend…came and went…
It’s alot like Christmas…or any other highly anticipated holiday…you plan for months, the actual festivities whirl by (and you keep reminding yourself to enjoy and remember the details) and then on Monday you’re back to a routine with only warm memories and wonderful gifts.
That was “Ship Shape Weekend #18″…our annual clean up event that happened over the weekend.
For once Intellicast and Accuweather were wrong…in our favor! We had sunshine and calm weather from Friday to Sunday…the wind broke loose yesterday and has been howling ever since but that’s another story.
In a nutshell, 20+ families gathered to build and mend fences, paint murals & trim boards, rake campsites, tend gardens, shear goats and clean the beach. We munched buttermilk doughnuts made from my Grandmother Avery’s lumber camp cookbook, cooked burgers on the grill and then ate pasta in every form on
Saturday night…we were all tired and hungry so everything tasted fabulous. We ended the evening by playing camping trivia for scratch tickets…do you know what a dingle stick is used for? How about predicting the weather from the dew on the grass? If you don’t, you should have been here 😉
Thank you for driving in from Bar Harbor, Brewer, Portland, New Hampshire and New York…Steven and I know you had plenty of other things you could have done with your time and money. By the time you had to organized toys, serviced equipment of every description, built the new deck and put the work sheds back into working condition, we’re left feeling ready to open for the season and grateful for the blessed life we live.
