Being right on Route 1 (did I mention that we have the largest billboard from the Canadian border to Miami?), we get a fair number of folks who drive into the campground everyday. People who camp or simply those who are curious. The most common question is, “can we just take a drive through and look around?” No. Almost without exception. We want to keep our children and our pets safe and one of the most obvious ways is to eliminate extra traffic on the narrow roads between the sites.
YES we want you to look around the park, YES we want you to visit, YES we want you to come back…but once you pull in, stop at the office and plan on walking around. You’ll meet delightful people, see some beautiful gardens, rest for a moment on Penobscot Bay (breath the salt air deep into your lungs) and leave with a genuine sense of how special vacations can be…you can’t get that from behind an air conditioned window or through the virtual reality of a computer screen.
