Happy 4th of July!
The campground was full of families laughing, playing and having a great time this weekend. The weather the past couple of days has been picture perfect. Our guests have enjoyed kayaking, clamming, fishing, playing in the Bay, campfires and just plain relaxing. Hopefully, everyone has enjoyed their 4th as much as we have!

Surrounded by water
Step out our door, slip in mud. Walk through the garden, sink into the mud. Skip rocks at the beach, drop into the mud. It’s April on the coast and we’re making dents with every step we take. So it seemed like a good day to tell you about three islands you should consider visiting…

sap’s Running (so are the turkeys)
In Maine, talking about the weather isn’t just small talk…it’s an art form we hone carefully to keep our spirits up and remind ourselves that we’re not in this alone! For weeks now the temperatures have been wildly vascillating between freezing and inviting. We’ve been rocked by winds that shake the strongest trees and blow…

My Mundane Life
My life has been Searsport, Maine based for 29 years…with occasional excursions to really wonderful destinations. I’m paying attention to what I’m…

“Spring is the Time of Plans and Projects”
Leo Tolstoy said it. Do you feel it too? When the clocks spring ahead, it’s time to start gathering up the winter projects that have filled all the corners of the house, workshop and studio and start accessing them with a critical eye…can I get this done in a few hours? is it worth the…

Mid Winter Fun
The days are getting longer…we came out of the movies the other night at 5:00 and it was still daylight for the drive home. This is lovely news, mostly because the sunrises and the sunsets are still at very easy to accommodate times…roughly around 6:30AM and 5:30PM. It’s been a quiet week of computer…

Kayaking at the shores!
There’s almost no better way to go out and enjoy the ocean than to go kayaking. To feel the wind and the waves while paddling along the coastline is an incredible experience. Here at Searsport shores we have both Tandem and Single Kayaks, and there’s so much to explore with them! If you go right…

A Day on Sears Island
Since arriving at the campground in late May, Sears Island is quickly becoming one of my favorite places. Accessible by only one road, and completely uninhabited it is a great place to spend the day. The island is full of hiking trails, biking trails, and even trails for horseback riding. One of my first days…
