As usual, life is floating by quicker than it’s supposed to…and it’s not just me who says this, I hear it every day from guests who are forced to return to their “real” lives before they are ready to pack up and go. Here are just a few more photos of the July holidays.
Every year Becky plans the float that Searsport Shores decorates for the Searsport parade. Although the theme of the float changes each year, one element is always the same…the sail at the front of the float. Each year the kids dip their hands in paint and we have a running record of the sticky fingers who have touched our lives!
With the sail in place, the Becky and Lorri helped the kids decorate the float with crepe paper, balloons,
sparkly things, sand pails and a bubble machine. With kids and parents on board, JT behind the tunes and Bob behind the bubbles, the float builders did a victory lap around the campground.
In town, the spectators were wowed with a chicken dance on Main St. Needless to say the kids were the hit of the parade!
Have you ever noticed that often times the spectators are as interesting as the parade participants? Really, I think small town parades are a spectator sport!
At the end of the parade, the Searsport Volunteer Fire Department hosted a muster for all the kids in town and those who participated in the parade…not that we’re competative or anything but our kids won hands down.
Back at the campground there were all you can eat, free hot fudge sundaes with Gifford’s Maine made ice cream, a huge crock pot of fudge, lot’s of real whipped cream and plenty of sprinkles for the festive touch.
And of course there was a bonfire on the beach to accompany the fireworks we could admire from across the Bay.
And then there was the traditional lobsterbake on the Beach Saturday night.
